Welcome to the ACTIVE Lab!

ACTIVE Logo Mission Statement:

The mission of the Applied Cognition & Training in Immersive Virtual Environments (ACTIVE) Lab is to enhance training capabilities through the integrated, academic advancement of emerging methodologies, applications, and technologies.

The ACTIVE Lab is engaged in basic and applied research and development for the analysis and improvement of human performance. Our multi-disciplinary research team of more than 40 members conducts cutting edge research in:  

         • Human–Robot Interaction
         • Physiological Assessment & Human Factors
         • Simulation–Based Training & Education  

Our currently sponsored projects range from the design of distributed and enhanced virtual training systems, evaluated for effectiveness and usability, to studying the impact of cultural influences upon the training continuum.

Dr. Stephanie LackeyI am glad that you paid us a visit. On this website you will find information about our team and the type of work and research we conduct.

We are a large research lab working under the administration of the University of Central Florida’s Institute for Simulation and Training here in sunny Central Florida. Our lab has developed the reputation as one of the nation's premier resources in Human Performance, Human Robotic Interaction, and Simulation & Training.

What makes us stand out? The ACTIVE Lab emphasizes anticipating our sponsor’s needs and carrying them out with high levels of expertise and accuracy. Our interdisciplinary team is comprised of research leads, support staff, and students that focus on all details of the research process and how findings might transfer to the Department of Defense and industry. It is our belief that high quality research leads to innovation that will improve the way we interact with our world, and ultimately human performance in complex environments.
